Figs are a superfood! Sure you can buy dried figs year-around, but nothing taste better than when their local and fresh! Figs are extremely high in fiber, vitamin B6, copper, potassium, manganese, and pantothenic acid, and very low in calories. So for those of you who count calories, go stock up on your figs and eat as many as you’d like, and they taste great when fully ripe!
As far as the health benefits go for figs, it’s crazy when you think about it, how a little fig can do so much for your body and provide you with so many nutrients that fight off diseases and other complications.
Helps with weight loss: why go straight for a diet pill, powder, or potion when you can eat figs to help you with losing weight. Because of it’s high source of fiber, it has a positive impact on weight management.

Helps to lower high blood pressure: high blood pressure is so common nowadays and almost everyone knows someone with high blood pressure, and they are usually taking pills to help lower it, when if they just ate the right foods, those raw foods would naturally bring down their blood pressure without other complications and side effects arising. Figs are an excellent source of potassium, which is a mineral that specifically helps to control your blood pressure.
Even the leaves are edible: most would shy away from consuming the leaves off a fig tree, but they are actually edible and used in other cultures frequently because of its antidiabetic properties and it can actually reduce the amount of insulin a diabetic person requires.
If you have trouble picking out figs, I always say color doesn’t matter because they vary in color depending on the type of figs, but the softer the sweeter, and don’t be afraid to try before you buy!
